Such is my experience in hidden camera shows, I was sent to Belgium by ITV to oversee the Belgian version of Fool Britannia as a format consultant.
Mischief Mansion was a huge one off pilot commissioned by Channel 4. A hugely ambitious hidden camera show in which we made someone think they had stumbled into a James Bond type adventure. Writing was varied on this as it went between hidden camera hits and standalone comedy sketches.
In 2014 I had the honour of writing for Channel 4’s award nominated Superstar Dogs. It was a tongue in cheek athletic show for dogs of all shapes and sizes. I wrote the studio script for presenter John Barrowman, as well as the commentator script for Jim Rosenthal.
VT writer for W channel’s Haunted Hotel. Nine VTs all about the village of Pluckley’s litany of paranormal activity.
Additional writing on BBC’s Country House. Science show where people’s reactions to scripted character’s behaviour is monitored. Writing speeches with a comedy skew for a hapless motivational speaker. Also writing up keynote speeches for other characters in the show.
I have written many shows for Trace’s Top 10 series. They were list based shows all about sports stars. The hugely varied episodes took in lists as far ranging as ‘Top 10 Charitable Footballers’, ‘Top 10 Sporting Capricorns’ and ‘Top 10 Tennis Scandals’. The shows are produced regularly and they have always asked me back.
I have written hundreds of intros for the hugely popular BBC quiz show Pointless. Just a few of them are in the video below:
Writer and director of comedy VTs for a panel show pilot for Magnum hosted by Jon Richardson.
